Designing a new way to connect families and caregivers through trusted support.

MyHarambee started with a clear goal to create a safe, reliable, and community-driven platform. A place where people can confidently give or receive help without friction or uncertainty. I led the design of the core experience, defining the user flows, structure, and overall product direction from the ground up.

OVERVIEW

MyHarambee is a community-powered care platform designed to connect parents and caregivers through verified support, shared responsibility, and trust. It enables users to request and offer childcare services, complete required certifications, manage service interactions, and engage in supportive community conversations—all within a safe, structured ecosystem

MY ROLE

I led the end-to-end product thinking, from defining the problem space to designing key user flows, structuring the system architecture, and crafting intuitive user experiences across web and mobile and the admin dashboard.

THE CHALLENGES

Finding reliable childcare within communities is often:

Unstructured – no clear system for matching needs with help
Unsafe – lack of verification and accountability
Inefficient – fragmented communication and coordination
Isolated – little sense of community or shared support

Parents need trust and reliability, while caregivers need credibility and access to opportunities.

DESIGN APPROACH

1. Trust-First Design Thinking
Every feature was built around one core principle:  “Trust must be established before interaction.”
